On the hunt for some more creative opportunities? To make things a little easier, we’ve collated five highlights from our Opportunities Board for you to choose from. This week on the list, we have: paid commissions, portfolio crit workshops, full-time junior roles and career-jerking residencies to apply for.

Idea East are on the hunt for a junior front-end designer

Idea East: Junior Front-End Designer
Design innovation agency Idea East is looking to hire a talented entry-level front-end designer. If you’re passionate about interactive design, and are looking to break into the UX/UI industry, then this role could be for you.

Get commissioned and earn £2,500 for your writing

Broccoli: Seeds Commissions
Do you have a piece of writing or performance that could stand alone or be developed further? The team over at Broccoli are on the hunt to commission two creatives from the LBQW* (lesbian, bisexual, queer) community. The two successful commissions will receive £2,500 for their work, alongside mentorship, financial guidance and networking opportunities.

Please note: *This definition is inclusive of trans womxn and non-binary femmes.

One-to-one portfolio reviews for illustrators

Inkygoodness: Illustration Portfolio Crit
One-to-one portfolio reviews are now more helpful than ever. That’s why art and culture platform Inkygoodness is urging emerging illustrators and recent graduates to sign up. You’ll not only receive a full review of your portfolio, you’ll also gain insight into what an art director may be looking for when commissioning.

Each session will be conducted over Zoom and will last approximately 30 minutes at the cost of £30. However, hardship and student discounts are available on request.

Create and get paid for it with this week-long residency

OUTPOST: Remote Residencies
Are you a person of colour who’s studied art and design and have had your degree show cancelled or postponed due to Covid-19? Artist-run charity OUTPOST are launching their Remote Residencies scheme to help you continue creating and working on your practice, from the comfort of your own home. The work created during the week residency (20–26 July) will be showcased across OUTPOST’s social channels.

Those selected for the residency will be given £240, plus a £60 material budget to complete their week-long creation.

Apply for an artist grant and earn £1,000 for your work

Hope Notes: Artist Grants
This grant is open to creatives that want to create new work in response to the theme of ‘Hope.’ One grant will be open to Black artists only, the second will be open to South-Asian artists and the third will be an open call.

Each grantee will be awarded £1000 and one month to create their chosen piece. All work will be promoted and shared on Our Hope Notes Instagram page in late August.
